What are some common reasons to seek treatment?

Therapy can be useful for a variety of concerns at different points in life. These can include learning skills to cope with anxiety, adjusting to life transitions (e.g., starting a new job, moving to a new city), coping with grief, coping with your own or a loved one’s substance use, and enhancing motivation and feelings of purpose. Therapy can help drastically enhance quality of life by processing traumatic events, such as sexual assault, exposure to combat, or other life threatening experiences. For some people, these stressful experiences can lead to PTSD. Treatment can also be helpful in managing other severely stressful experiences (e.g., the end of a relationship, health problems).

How can I contact you?

You may call me at (617) 202-3305. Due to my work schedule, I am often not immediately available, so please leave a message with your name and phone number. My voicemail is confidential and I am the only person with access to it.

You may also email me at avivakatz.phd@gmail.com or by clicking the “Contact Me” button on this site. Please note that email is not a confidential means of communication, so it is best to omit personal health information. Please also note that in the event of an emergency, my phone and email should not be used for immediate help. Please go to your nearest emergency room, call 911, or call the National Crisis Line at 988.

What happens after I contact you by phone or email?

We will schedule a 10-15 minute phone call (free of charge) to briefly discuss your needs and assess whether scheduling an initial appointment with me would be helpful in determining whether my services are a fit for your needs.

Do you accept insurance?

My practice is not contracted with any insurance companies. Therefore, I am considered an out-of-network provider. Patients are billed directly and I provide all necessary documentation for you to submit to insurance for reimbursement, should you choose to do so. I encourage you to contact your insurance company to inquire about the terms of your behavioral health benefits.

What are your fees?

Fees vary depending on the service provided. We will discuss this in detail prior to your first appointment, since payment is required at the time services are rendered.

Where are you located?

My office is located at 17 Station Street in Brookline, MA. My office is across the street from the Brookline Village T stop on the Green “D” Line. Metered street parking is available as well. I also provide services via a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.
